Shooting Sean

Dan Starkey meets Hollywood. I`ve always been a big movie buff, and it was a dream come true when the powers that be decided to make a film version of `Divorcing Jack`, and I got to write the screenplay.

You hear all kinds of horror stories about how writers are treated in the movies, and most of them are true, but this was a pleasure from start to finish. When the movie was finished we took it to Cannes, which for me was like being on a very, very long stag night.

However, it gave me the idea for `Shooting Sean`, which was about an Irish actor who`d become a Hollywood star returning to make a movie about a Belfast gangster, who wasn`t too pleased.

Dan Starkey is assigned to write the book of the movie and quickly finds himself in all kinds of trouble.

This is the quickest book I`ve ever written, about four weeks I think - it was all kind of breathless, and great fun.
